The sustainable use of the natural resources soil, water and atmosphere.
Climate change and land use change have significant impacts on terrestrial ecosystems that society will need to manage in the coming decades. However, the development of appropriate management and adaptation strategies to global change is currently severely hampered by our limited ability to predict states and fluxes of matter in terrestrial systems at the temporally and spatially relevant scales. Contributing to the improvement of system understanding and predictive capacity is the central research concern of the Agrosphere Institute.
