Doctoral Researchers / PhD students

PhD students: research at Jülich

Every year, Forschungszentrum Jülich supervises more than 850 doctoral researchers from about 50 countries who are working on their doctoral degrees. In addition to intensive scientific supervision in the institutes, Forschungszentrum Jülich offers an interdisciplinary training programme and an independent support structure via its Doctoral Committee. The institutes work closely with the neighbouring universities conferring the various doctoral degrees. By offering reliable framework conditions, Jülich’s aim is to allow doctoral researchers to concentrate fully on their doctoral degrees.

Forschungszentrum Jülich and the universities are close partners in training and supervising PhD students. A PhD at Jülich usually takes three years and the title is always conferred by the university where the PhD candidate is enrolled.
