Membrane Centre for Energy-Efficient Technologies Officially Opened

Jülich, 24 August 2015 – Membrane systems are decisive for the development of new energy-efficient technologies as part of the transformation of the German energy sector. Membranes can separate climate-damaging greenhouse gases from flue gases much more efficiently than conventional methods and they also form the basis for novel fuel cells and batteries. The new membrane centre opened today at Forschungszentrum Jülich by State Secretary for Research Thomas Rachel, Member of the German Bundestag, will provide new impetus for research in this field. The facility, costing a total of € 17.2 million, received funding of € 15.5 million from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
