STRONG-2020

New European project to investigate strong interaction

Jülich, 30 April 2019 – The aim of European initiative STRONG-2020 is to find answers to outstanding questions in the field of the strong interaction – one of the cornerstones of the standard model of particle physics. The four-year project will coordinate both experimental and theoretical research activities, and was recently approved by the EU within the research and innovation programme Horizon 2020.

Backed with funding of € 10 million, it will commence in summer 2019. The STRONG-2020 Consortium counts 44 partner institutions from 14 EU countries, including Forschungszentrum Jülich’s Nuclear Physics Institute along with its COSY particle accelerator. Scientists from 36 countries are participating in the project.
