Kavli Prize for Pioneer in Modern Electron Microscopy

Jülich, 27 May 2020 – This year’s Kavli Prize for Nanoscience goes to Prof. Knut Urban of Forschungszentrum Jülich. The scientist and former director at the subinstitute for Microstructure Research (PGI-5) and the Ernst Ruska-Centre for Microscopy and Spectroscopy with Electrons (ER-C) is awarded the prize together with Prof. Harald Rose (Ulm University), Prof. Maximilian Haider (CEOS GmbH, Heidelberg), and Prof. Ondrej Krivanek (Nion Company, Seattle, USA), the Kavli Foundation announced in Oslo. The prize honours the four scientists’ work in the development of electron microscopy, which allows researchers today to display and examine materials with atomic resolution.
