Structural Change in Practice: Students Research with Algae

Jülich, 4 September 2020 – What does the bioeconomy mean exactly? And what can it do for structural change in the Rhineland? Seeking to answer these and many other questions, the first project course on the subject of the bioeconomy was launched at Forschungszentrum Jülich. Over the course of a year, students from the senior classes of Mädchengymnasium Jülich girls' school, Waldschule Eschweiler comprehensive school, and Gymnasium Alsdorf grammar school will study the potential economic applications of algae. The aim is to get the young students excited about science and to shed light on the concrete issues that will arise due to structural change in the region. Ultimately, this change primarily concerns the younger generation.
