Interview with Stefan Tautz Published in Science

In order to understand the exchange of electrons in chemical reactions, it is not only important to know their spatial distribution but also to gain a precise understanding of how this distribution changes over time. Scientists from Jülich, Marburg, and Graz have made huge progress in this direction. By combining state-of-the-art methods used in laser and electron spectroscopy, they were able to observe electrons transferring through an interface between a molecular layer and a metal in space and time, and capture images of electron orbitals with an extremely high temporal resolution.
An interview with Stefan Tautz, head of the Quantum Nanoscience subinstitute at Forschungszentrum Jülich and one of the lead authors of the study, was published today in the journal Science.
