Advisory Services

At Forschungszentrum Jülich, there are numerous points of contact providing support on various issues related to the supervision of a doctoral project. This begins with the selection of suitable candidates for a doctoral thesis followed by advice on career development and the need for dialogue regarding personnel and personal matters. Depending on the type of advice required, these services are available to all employees.

Support in the recruitment of doctoral researchers

There are various ways of filling positions for doctoral projects at Forschungszentrum Jülich. All advertised positions are published via the Juelich Recruiting System (“JuRS”). Employees can use the services offered by Human Resource Development. Various support tools can be utilized depending on the employee’s experience of recruiting doctoral researchers and the information they require.

Social counselling services

Social Counselling is a service facility of Forschungszentrum Jülich. It offers all employees advice and support in difficult life and work situations. If you are not working at the Jülich location, the social counselling service also offers telephone counselling. Consultations can also be conducted in English. The aim of social counselling is to maintain and strengthen the personal and professional well-being of employees, their health and performance.

Career Center

The Career Center is primarily aimed at postdocs and doctoral researchers reaching the end of their doctoral projects. This is when questions arise regarding their future career paths in and outside of academia and these are often discussed with the supervisors of doctoral projects. In addition to an individual’s professional experience, the Career Center offers various career counselling and coaching opportunities as further support for doctoral researchers.
