Smart Catalysts for Tailored Hydrogen Technologies

The so called metal exsolution offers a way to fabricate nanoparticles in catalysts in a direct and very controlled way. Scientists from Forschungszentrum Jülich have now provided a detailed understanding of the processes taking place during this relatively new procedure in the journal Nature Materials, opening new pathways for the development of high-performance catalysts and smart functional materials.

Quantum metrology is one of the pillars of quantum technologies. It shows how one can use quantum effects, such as entanglement and squeezing, to increase the precision of the measurements one can do. It also establishes the ultimate bounds, on precision that any measurement can achieve, e.g. through the Heisenberg uncertainty relations and the quantum speed limits.
